WA researchers are in good stead to cement their position as world leaders using coral reefs to study the effect of climate change on the world’s oceans thanks to new federal funding, according to Professor Malcolm McCulloch.

Professor McCulloch is the Winthrop Professor at UWA’s School of Earth and Environment and the Oceans Institute, and is the only WA academic to receive the prestigious Australian Laureate Fellowship this year.

Perth Zoo has welcomed the arrival of four meerkats born on September 27, 2012, as part of a regional breeding program for the species.

The zoo's successful breeding of meerkats has continued with the pairing of the new female Meerkat, Tilly.
