Should Parliament House have a booze ban?

Workplace policies on alcohol are common practice in most businesses in Western Australia and as a result it’s not usually tolerated for a person to be under the influence of alcohol during work hours.
However, there is no policy regulating alcohol consumption by Members of Parliament. In addition, parliamentary members are offered open bar service before and after sitting in parliament.
Is this acceptable, given the unusual and long hours parliamentary members work - or is it worrying that our politicians may be making decisions on our behalf, under the influence of alcohol? read article »
