In what some call an overdue performance US President Barack Obama has attempted to take control of the battle over Guantanamo. The theatrical showdown with former vice-president Dick Cheney followed a Senate vote that has denied Mr Obama the funds to close down the prison.
Mr Obama defended his decision to shut down Guantanamo, stating that it was a breeding ground for anti-American sentiments. read article »
If you’re a repeat drink driving offender on WA roads, chances are you won’t be able to just blow off the punishment for much longer. Fatal crashes and a high proportion of people driving over the limit have forced the WA Government to come down tougher.
This means that repeat offenders will have to install an alcohol interlock device in their vehicles if they want to keep on driving. read article »

In 1995, Andrew Mallard was wrongfully convicted for the violent murder of Mosman Park Jeweller Pamela Lawrence. He was sentenced to life behind bars after the senior prosecution withheld various pieces of vital evidence.
Today, a free man after what he described as a "harrowing, oppressive, violent, traumatic" twelve years in a maximum security prison, Mallard has been forced to fight on and re-live his nightmare in the courts in the search for compensation beyond the $3.25 million ‘gift’ he received from Premier Colin Barnett. read article »
It now seems that coming to a decision on the Mosque plans for the Swan Valley will be a long and slow process. With the first set of plans rejected back in February last year, the second set of plans was re-submitted to the Swan Valley Council in February this year with similar results. Australia has been called the seventh biggest source of “zombie” computers in the world, according to a report released by Anti-Spam company MessageLabs. Meanwhile, globally there are twelve million computers that have been hijacked by cyber-criminals, with 18 per cent of the infected computers in the US, and just over 13 per cent in China. read article »
