It’s a battle in the bush, as local residents refuse to let up on Western Power’s proposal for a new Eastern Terminal switchyard to be built in the Perth Hills.

As Western Australia’s economy and population continues to grow, so does the demand for power. At present, a major source of Perth’s energy is power stations in Collie in the south west of the state. The stations are close to maximum capacity and Western Power’s Independent Market Operator's (IMO) forecasts show that from 2010, the transmission line will not have sufficient capacity to accommodate the forecast increase. read article »
