WA Art Talent on Show
Some of the best artists in WA and their work is on show at the Perth Town Hall to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Perth Society of Artists.
The art exhibition features works by 20 members of the society, and a number of nomination pieces that members will judge to admit new artists into the society.
Organiser Doreen ‘Jardi’ Shaw explained there are a lot of talented artists of all ages in the exhibition.
Jardi said an artist’s age or experience level did not count when selecting pieces to be in the exhibition or members to be in the society.
"It's the quality of the art counts, not who they are,” she said.
Jardi also said that everyone looks for different aspects to enjoy in an artwork.
“I look for the spirit,” she said. “Art to me is giving form to an abstract thought. Different people must look for different things.”
The Perth Society of Artists was formed in 1932 and continues to have success, with exhibitions displaying local well-known and emerging artists’ work.
Rick Staker and Narelle Manser-Smith are just two of the nominated artists hoping to be admitted into the society.
Some of the artists in the exhibition were born overseas but are now based in WA.
The exhibition is suitable for all ages and will show 62 pieces of art from over 20 recognised artists. The works on sale range in price from $175 to $3,300.
The Perth Society of Artists 75th Anniversary Exhibition is currently showing until August 27. Admission is from 10am - 4pm at the Perth Town Hall.
